Meet Katherine McElvain!

Hi there, I'm Katherine, and if you are reading this, then you and I have something in common...we love The Scrapbook Store!

I am so fortunate and honored to be part of the Scrapbook Store team and this hobby has become such an important part of my life. So what better way to tell you a little bit about myself in combination with my addiction to scrapbooking, than by peeking at some of my projects.

My favorite person in the whole world is my husband Ricky

Some of my other favorite people are the rest of my gang, being my 4 crazy, but wonderful kids.

Our family spends time practicing and playing sports,

celebrating milestones,

going on little adventures,

spending a lot of time at home,

and and trying to do all this while remembering the blessings God has given us.

Some of the greatest opportunities scrapbooking has laid in front of me is being an instructor here at TSS and becoming a Bella Blvd Artista. Because of the challenges I have been assigned as an Artista and an instructor my hobby has evolved, and I have discovered parts of the craft that I may have not otherwise tried. Most of what I scrap these days is done with Bella, and it is my favorite product line by far..

I've learned to play with Photoshop Elements.

I've stepped outside my comfort zone and have created altered projects.

And I have been lucky enough to have some of my creations published in magazines including Memory Makers and Creating Keepsakes.

I love the hobby because it is a social and creative outlet all at the same time. I have meet some great people, made some wonderful friends, and can share the hobby with my family. They even join in the creative process sometimes.

So no one can really complain about all the products I have collected over the years, can they? Because I intend them to be a gift for anyone who cares about my creations in the future. And if no one else wants what I have created I am hoping that when I am old and grey, sitting in my rocking chair, trying to remember the days gone by, I will be able to haul out what I have created to reminisce on the good old days.

Meet Donna Canzoneri!

Hi, My name is Donna Canzoneri and I started scrapbooking about 12 years ago and I have worked at the Scrapbook Store for almost 8 Years. I started as a sales associate in the store and worked with a great group of girls and trained by several of the girls who have become dear friends to me. One of the girls who helped train me was the one and only Stephanie Hunt from Bella Blvd.

I was then asked to teach the basic class. I was very nervous to become an instructor but once I started, I got more and more comfortable. After I completed a 3 year research project on my own family geneology I was asked to teach Heritage classes and I happily accepted, and have been teaching heritage classes ever since!!

I have since ventured into other types of classes and have been teaching classes every quarter there after. For example, card classes, layout classes and mini books etc... I also enjoy working the big events at the store like the weekend crops, kropping time krops, special events and make n takes.

A few of my favorite products are my Tim Holtz blending tool and my Marvy Punches.

A few of my favorite paper lines are Simple Stories, Echo Park, Bella Blvd, October Afternoon and Bo Bunny ( Love the shabby chic looks).

The best part of working at the Scrapbook Store is all the great friends I have made, being able to help and teach all of our customers and to watch at how excited they get as new products are brought in!!

Meet Sheri

Hi! My name is Sheri Feypel and I am a Class Instructor here at The Scrapbook Store.I have been scrapbooking for about 7 years. I got started with peer pressure from my friends, they were all scrapbookers and made me do it! No, really I thought it looked like fun and decided to give it a shot. I was immediately hooked! A few years later I started teaching classes here. I enjoy designing and teaching classes. I like to keep it simple and fun! Stop by The Scrapbook Store today to see some of my upcoming card classes on display. In the mean time here are some cards from previous classes...

I have been married to my husband, Scott for almost ten years. Together we have two son's, Jordan (15) and Logan (9). And of course our furry family member, Riley. We love to spend time Up North, boating, swimming, wakeboarding, tubing, and fishing. In the winter we spend a little more time in doors playing Wii, watching movies and recently have had some really intense games of UNO!

I currently hold a position on the Bella Blvd Design Team and have an upcoming Guest Designer Spot in March at Jillibean Soup. So now you now who some of my favorite manufacturers are!

I love to add lots of dimension to my layouts and tend to use way too much foam adhesive. Some of my other go to supplies are Twine, Buttons, Chipboard Alpha's and Thickers.

By now, I'm sure most of you may have already seen Bella Blvd's newest releases. Stephanie has come out with 3 new lines, a mini collection, and new colors for her Sophticates line. She is also introducing new items, flags, buttons, tapes and flowers (these will ship later)!!! I personally am so excited because while her new products are not shipping until March 15th, we will have the new paper collections for sale in our store this weekend, for our Bella event (there is still room in the Saturday classes). So, if you have not seen the collections yet, check out what we will have in by Friday night...

We have many wonderful employees and instructors here at The Scrapbook Store. We are one big happy family here, and we all go to great measures to make sure we have a very comfortable, friendly place for you to shop and visit. Our staff has been complimented so much via email, facebook, and just by word of mouth, so we thought it would be super fun for you to meet them all!! In the next few weeks and months, we will be featuring some very special and talented people that may look a little familiar to you. If they don't, come on in and visit us - either shop or take a class or just to introduce yourself. We love meeting new people and making new friends!!

Debbie says.....

Hello my peeps, my name is Debbie. I'm here to tell you a litte bit about myself. I started scrapbooking 15yrs ago after attending an in-home demonstration. After that night I was addicted to it and have been doing it ever since. I've worked for The Scrapbook Store for a total of 6yrs, between the old & new locations. You can find me teaching classes and working in the store. I teach a number of classes from Basic Scrapbooking, Beyond Basic, Bella Blvd Classes, Pet Classes, Disney Classes and the most recently added - Kids Corner. I also act as a scrapbook consultant if you would like help with your books or I create custom albums for those that do not have time to do it themselves. I LOVE to help with special events and work the crops at the store.

Some of my favorite paper lines are Bella Blvd (of course), Bo Bunny, WeRMemory Keepers and Echo Park. I call myself a collector of paper and Thickers (American Craft Alphas), and when it comes to a layout, you can never have enough bling on it! I love trying new product and techniques.

Working at The Scrapbook Store is exciting, and I enjoy helping the customers, and in my opinion that is the best part of my job. The Scrapbook Store is my home away from home and the customers are not just customers they are friends. I've made tons of friends from working at the store, and wouldn't trade it for anything!

We had a ton of fun at our Santa's workshop back in December! I was Elf Debbie...

My newest class is called Kids Corner. Kids (ages 6 and up), can come in and create two 8x8 pages every month, and before you know it, they walk away with a completed book. What a great hobby for the kids, and a great way for mom and child to begin a hobby where they can spend quality time together! These are samples of 2 of the pages...

I also teach classes to Daisie troops, Brownie troups, birthday parties and other kids groups. I you are interested in having your party or special group, just give the store a call for details!

My Spring Things mini book class sold out, so I decided to make a few extra kits that are on sale now at the store. Bella Blvd. Spring Flings and Easter Things line was used to create this cute little book!

On A Personal Note...

When I'm not at The Scrapbook Store you can find me spending time with my family. I have been married to a wonderful man for 23yrs and we have a beautiful daughter that is 21yrs old and is away at college. She will be graduating in December from Edgewood College, School of Nursing. As a family we like to vacation in Florida. Disney is "the happiest place on earth" (excluding The Scrapbook Store) and Clearwater Beach is a place we love to go to relax. Someday, I'd love to retire there. I have a German Shepard, Nyla and she is my baby and is treated like one to.

Hubby, Doug - Daughter, Rachel - and Me

I also work as a Home Care Caregiver part-time. I enjoy helping my clients (I like to call them my Peeps) so they can continue living in their home. I help them with shopping, cleaning, assist with daily living and act as a companion. My one peep and I love to have coffee and cookies while we talk. She tells me stories from when she was young, and I love listening to them. They are amazing people and the stories they have are amazing as well. I look forward to our time and they look forward to seeing me.

Some of my favorite things include: Anything Coach, taking walks, having Starbucks with my girlfriends, chocolate, pizza & Mexican food, spending time with my daughter, New York & Co., the color Pink, animal prints, bling and of course, working at The Scrapbook Store.

As many of you know, we have many, many events and krops here at The Scrapbook Store. Take a look at some of the fun we have...

Earlier this month, we were so happy to host the Fiskateer Krop. Fiskateers from all over the state came to krop and meet each other. Everyone had a good time, including us! Check out that banner in the background...it was fabulous, made by Kelly Starsky

SO, this was our first on-site weekend krop. It was a huge success, so much so, that we are already planning the next one! Keep checking those emails! The dates will be announced soon!! We had 40 women and it was a total blast, with prizes, make and takes, contests and awesome food!!

We have krops every Friday night (excluding the 2nd Friday) from 4-midnight. Cost is $10 and includes dinner and 10% off purchases for the evening. Every 2nd Saturday we have our All-day Krops from 9am - midnight. Cost is $45 and includes lunch, dinner, make and takes, door prizes, discounts, and grand prizes! Speaking of lunch and dinner...meet Suzie...

Suzie is our awesome caterer! Soooooo many people ask for her recipes, so we decided to post them. Check out Suzie's blog here for all those yummy recipes...and we'll keep adding to the delicious list!

One AMAZING project!!!!

If you know our store well, then you know how much we LOVE Bella Blvd! Bella Blvd is by far the best seller of our store. We can't seem to keep it on the racks! We have yet to buy a collection that doesn't sell out within the first week of its arrival! We don't really know if it's because it's the first thing you see when you enter our store, or because Stephanie Hunt (the owner and designer) is local, or if it's because every line she creates is cuter than the next. Anywho, we don't care what the reason is, personally, I think it's all the above.

Today, Stephanie has a great surprise for you over at her blog...see it here! You really don't want to miss it, in fact, I will for sure be making this awesome project! She has really outdone herself with this!

Not too many companies have nice "Winter" themed paper, so we were excited to see this collection by SEI. I was told that the reason for the lack of winter lines was because not everyone has snow in winter and therefore the paper doesn't sell well. Well, I say we NEED winter lines here in Wisconsin, and there are plenty of seasonal items that can be designed that are not snowy at all. Or, hey, how about making it a small winter release?? Just sayin'! Silver Valley, by SEI, is a more elegant, vibrant winter collection that is just beautiful. We have the whole line so come on in and see it in person! And let us know if you've seen any cute Winter lines.

So, today was a fun day! We got a few new "fun" lines in. Monster Mania is one of the three lines we purchased from Doodle Bug at CHA. It's super-cute and such bright colors and adorable designs. These pictures do not portray the cuteness...you'll have to come on in a see it for yourself. But, I warn you, once you see it, you will want it all!!

We Love Tim Holtz!!!!!

We had such a great turn out for our Tim Holtz Extravaganza this past Saturday. Thanks so much for those that spent time with us and also to Sara, Sherry and Quinn, the fantastic instructors that taught so many great techniques! Each instructor taught 2 to 4 techniques while creating a complete tag at each station. Customers left with 3 completed tags. Thank you to all that participated and thanks for your patience. Some of the techniques were a bit lengthy, however, no one seemed to mind.

The instructors used many Tim Holtz/Ranger products - too many to count. Here are just a few products that were used..

And here are the wonderful tags that were created. Some of you were asking us to post the tags with a list of products used, so here they are!

Tag #1 created by Sherry - Used distressed crackle paint, distressed ink, distressed stains, liquid pearls, distressed stickles, textured fades embossing folders, blending tool, mini mister, haberdashy stamps, tiny attacher.

Tag #2 created by Sara - Used distressed ink, alcohol ink, glossy accents, alcohol blending tool, heat gun, fragments, stuff to say stamps, mini masks.

Tag #3 created by Quinn - Used distressed inks, distressed stickles, studio 490 celestial art stamp, ink blending tool, mini mister.

And to answer the question of the day...YES, we will be doing this again in the near future. We will have more stations and different techniques!

We had so much fun at CHA this past week! It's always exciting being able to see all the newest releases up close and in person. It's such a challenge deciding what companies to purchase from and we so wish we could but it all (doesn't everyone). We did our best and are still in the process of choosing some. We'd like for you to check back as we list what we have purchased and post it once it is in the store.

As an independent store, we realize the competition out there in terms of "Big Box" stores, I won't mention any names...but we know you, as the consumer could probably get some items you'd like sooner at one of these stores since vendors ship to these "big" accounts first. We run into this all the time. Angie and I would like to say THANK YOU so much for supporting us (the little guys). We do not want you to think we place our orders late, when in fact, we may place our orders before these large chains. In this industry they get top billing. As frustrating as this may be, it is what it is, and we are asking you, our loyal customers, to be patient as we too will have the best product to choose from. Being scrapbookers ourselves, we know just how difficult this may be, especially because we all get so excited about the "new" lines and product.

Also, please keep in mind that we do listen to our customers. A lot of our ordering comes directly from customer input. This is the benefit of being an independent store. Please let us know via email, facebook, etc. what you'd like to see in our store. We do our best to accommodate you always.

So, many of you may already know that CHA is right around the corner. For those of you that do not know, CHA stands for the Craft and Hobby Association, where all the new scrapbook line are on display! Some companies keep this under wraps right up until the show, which is every July and January. Next week we will be in Chicago shopping for new stuff to add to our collections! It's a very exciting time for us. So, if you have time, go on the Internet and search for CHA sneak peeks and see what you can find. I've already seen soooo much greatness out there. As you may already know, we have so many krops to choose from here at The Scrapbook Store. Our Breakfast Krops are totally FREE and include a light breakfast! Breakfast krops are every Monday and Wednesday from 9am until 3 pm. You can sign up for any krops up to three months in advance!

Kroppin Time is every Friday night (excluding the second Friday) from 4pm until midnight. The cost is only $10.00 and INCLUDES dinner!!! Plus, you get 10% off of all purchases for the evening! Each month we also offer Kroppin Time on a Saturday in addition to the Friday night krops - the cost is the same, and if you'd like, you can come to both and leave your supplies overnight for your convenience.

Every second Saturday we have our All-Day Krops. This is a very popular krop each month. The cost is $45.00 and includes a goodie bag for everyone, several door prizes, 3 cute make and takes, a grand prize, and a fabulous lunch and dinner catered by Susie Lovas - the best chef we know! You also receive 10% off your entire purchases for the day!

And, who said scrapbooking is for girls??? Certainly not Wayne, our first man ever to krop in our classroom. We had a great time with he and his wife, Andrea, at one of our recent krops! Thanks, Wayne, for putting up with all us ladies! We sure hope you join us again!

We have a few additions to our krop room as well. Here is our new photo kiosk. If you're in a pinch, just bring in your photo card, or disc, and you can edit and print your own pictures with our photo printer with high-quality photo paper. This is also available for your journalling!

We have a new Cricut Expressions machine available for your use, along with several cartridges! All you need to bring is your mat (or we sell them here). We also have an original Cricut if you'd rather use the smaller model. We also have available for your use, the Cuddlebug, Epic 6 and Revolution die cutting system, so you don't have to lug your own. While we do have some dies for your use, it is recommended that you also bring along a few of your own. As always, we also have 2 Accucut die cut machines along with tons of dies for you to choose from!

It's time to share something we are really super excited about...SMASH! It's a new product from EK Success. While this was released at winter CHA, they grossly underestimated the huge demand for the new product. We will be getting in the product as it becomes available, and we have also pre-ordered new add-ons to the original! We plan to keep this stocked as much as we can and as it is available.

A little bit about SMASH...

There are so many ideas that you can do with our SMASH books. I personally like the idea of a little journal/scrapbook that I can carry around with me - adding memorabilia, etc. on the go! All of the accessories and trinkets make it so much fun to work with. Everything you need to create a masterpiece all your own, right down to the adhesive and journaling pen! This is a great idea from a customer:

You know when you hear a song you used to love and you are instantly transported to that summer in college when you did nothing but waitress and cruise around with friends? Or the old songs that your mom used to listen to that remind you so much of her? How about that track you listen to over and over again, because the artist was clearly speaking directly to you. I want to create a visual (and audio) record of that so I can flip through it whenever I'm feeling sentimental.

I'm going to stick in old photos and images, write down fave lyrics, clip concert ticket stubs and maybe even put in some torn-out magazine pages of interviews my most beloved bands have done. I think I'm even going to store the songs on a flash drive and slip them into a SMASH pocket.

It's so Hard to Say Goodbye...

She has been with the Scrapbook Store since the doors opened in 1997, and it's so hard to believe that this morning, she left for Atlanta, Georgia, what would become her new home. For me, although I have known her for 8 1/2 years now, it seems like we only really began to know each other since Angie and I bought the store last September. I'm so happy that she will be starting a new chapter with the move, and yet so sad because I feel like a part of the store and and a great new friendship will be so missed. We've shared laughs, crys, and a few secrets that I will carry with me forever. I know our employees and customers will miss her as well, as she was one of the best instructors we have.

I just want to say Thank You, Gail, for your dedication, loyalty and friendship. We wish you and Paul the best of luck always. We do, however, expect you to come on back for some events...I'm still working on getting your "boyfriend" to visit us and I will not give up!!

We had an AWESOME weekend here at The Scrapbook Store, with Jill and Jen from Jillibean Soup!! They taught three classes and joined us while we kropped into the evening! Everyone had such a great time, so we decided we are definitely going to have to do this again with them!! During the Saturday evening krop, I had to take a pic of this customer, Robin. I thought her way of kropping reminded me of myself with the mess and all - I'm a sloppy scrapper! But, I have to say, once she left, you never would have know she was there! She cleaned it all up in record time.

And Erin ended up with the "bunny" we had to pass once a page was completed. She also won the project contest at the end of the night!

We here at The Scrapbook Store are proud to say the we are a dedicated retailer of Bella Blvd Products. We pride ourselves on staying on top of things and we never let our Bella stock dwindle. Why do we love Bella so much?? WELCOME NEW GUEST DESIGNERS!

A few weeks ago, we announced that we were looking for three talented people to be guest designers for the store. We will feature their work on our website, blog and in the store for the next six months. We were thrilled to see how many people brought in their projects. There are so many talented artists out there. I was blown away! It was so hard to choose only three, and we really wish we could have picked a few more. Thanks so much for all that entered and we really hope you try again at a later date. All projects dropped off may be picked up any time during business hours. Thanks again!

Introducing...

Kelly

Hi, my name is Kelly Swosinski and I live in Oak Creek, WI with my dog Toby. I've been scrapbooking for about 10 years now, back when my supplies consisted of construction paper and Sandylion stickers (you know the ones). Since then I'd call my style ever changing. I love trying new techniques, tools, and product to enhance my pages. Outside of scrapbooking I enjoy photography, the outdoors, and all of Wisconsin's sports teams (Brewers, Packers, Badgers). I look forward to be able to share my work with The Scrapbook Store, and am so grateful for the opportunity.

I am a SAHM of 4 year old twin girls- so I have plenty to scrapbook. I started off my “hobby” making cards. A friend of mine encouraged me to do an 8x8 scrapbook of a family trip we took a couple of years ago. I really enjoyed the process and thought I would dive into doing a 12x12 scrapbook for each of my girls. It has been a fun journey learning about new techniques, products and all the creative projects that are out there. I am always pushing myself to learn more. I am so excited to have this opportunity to share my ideas with others. Thank you Beth and Angie!

I live in Kenosha with my wonderful husband Aaron and two children, Ella (3) and Evan (4 months).

I am a part-time music teacher and get to stay home with my kids the rest of the time. My favorite pastimes are traveling, singing and being crafty! I have loved crafts for as long as I can remember (thanks Mom!) and now devote most of my crafty time to scrapbooking. I have been blessed to have my work featured in BHG Scrapbooks Etc., Scrapbook Trends, Cards, and Handmade magazines. I am so honored and excited to be part of The Scrapbook Store's Design Team!

Crate Paper, Tim Holtz, WeR, Best, etc..............

The new Crate Paper lines just came in today, and they are adorable. Each line has many embellishments, such as chipboard, diecut stickers, brads, and alphas!!! Take a look!

This is a line called Retro Glam by WeR Memory Keepers. This is a new line to us, but has been around awhile. We had to get it because it's very glitzy, and you know how we LOVE glitz!!

More glitter paper by Best Creations. We have many new collections, but here are just a couple. The first is a ton of St. Pat's paper. And below is some dotted glitter paper. It looks much better in person!!
