A Good Day!!

So, today was a very productive day!  Most of the construction is done at the store, thanks to Bob, Chris, Mike, Eddie, and many others that helped.  We have a little bit more painting and finishing touches, and carpeting on Thursday, then the fun part of organizing the store.  We love our arches that Bob built.  He's very artistic.  Here he is with Tom, taking a little break.

We Are Blessed!

The last week has been quite overwhelming, I'm not going to lie.  We literally moved a 5500 sq ft store filled (and I mean filled) with ...stuff,  lots of big, heavy, stuff into our new store.  It has been quite a task, I assure you.  All I can say is it's finally all moved in, sitting in what will become the classroom, piled high, but none the less, it's all there.  Tonight all the old carpeting in the new store has been torn out and the glue is pretty much gone!  Huray!!!  Angie, her mom and kids, Niko and Bailey, have been working night and day painting.  There is so much more to go, but coming along nicely.

I have to say, I have learned so much about friendship during this endevor and for that alone, the decision to open this store is worth it.  Friends and family have given so much of their precious time to help us and we are forever greatful!  Giving up your weekends and days off to scrape old glue off a huge cement floor, moving what seemed to be a billion paper racks, building walls, cleaning, lugging crates of paper is no fun task, and yet so many have done just that.  We can't say thank you enough.  Below are a few pictures of many little helpers.  This would have been a nightmare without you all.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.  We are blessed to have you in our lives!

Jodi painting our logo on the window.  She is fabulous!!

Thank God for Doug and this handy machine that took the glue off of the cement floor!

Eddie and Mike pulling up all that horrible carpeting!

Debbie wanted to know if this rack made her "rack" look big!
Doug and Paul loading the trailer...again!

Angie's having a little too much fun!!

So many others have helped out...thanks so much to Sue and Mike, Jodi, Chris, Eddie, Bailey, Niko, Alyssa, Jose, Tom, Debbie, Doug, and thanks so much, Penny!!!!!  Also, a very special Thanks goes out to our very own, Bob, the builder...he is amazing!!!

Starting A New - Existing Business

Starting a new business brings joy, excitement, and yes, a bit of anxiety too. We decided to start a blog so you can share in our journey as the "new" Scrapbook Store evolves.  As time passes, we will be slowly adding to the sidebars to reveal pictures and surprises.  We have many new and fresh ideas, we can hardly think of which to start first!

For those that do not know, we decided to purchase the Scrapbook Store, since the original owner decided to retire after 14 years of business.  Many people have asked us why we are keeping the "old" name, which admittedly is not very original, but, we decided to keep it because of the longevity of the store and it's history as one of the original scrapbook stores in the Midwest, and, of course there is the Google factor.  Who do you think pops up first when Scrapbook Stores in Wisconsin is typed into that little bar???  You guessed it!!  So, the Scrapbook Store it is!!

While we plan to keep much the same, we will also be focusing on events, classes and krops.  There are other goodies in store that we can't reveal yet, but feel free to stop back any time for updates.

We hope to post all the trials, mishaps, and hopefully much success in our journey.

Check back and please feel free to share your comments and advice!

I'll leave you today with a couple funzies you might see at our new store;

Here's the outside address - 4466 South 108th Street!!!
That silly guy is Bob, Angie's husband. I don't know too many guys still in such a good mood after putting in about 12 hours of new construction!!!!
